Woman Arrested, Accused Of Groping Boys At Del City Swimming Pool

A metro woman was charged with sex crimes against children and is accused of groping two boys at a public swimming pool in Del City, according to police.

The children, 12 and 13 called 911. According to investigators, the children accused 28-year-old Kayla Lena of touching them over the course of several days.

“Obviously they were a little upset by it,” said Major Brad Cowden, Del City Police Department.

According to court filings, Kayla Lena "continuously grabbed the victims calling them "daddy."

“At one point [she] attempted to remove their clothing to expose their genitals and was making inappropriate statements to them at various points in the day,” said Cowden.          

As parents and other children swam nearby, lifeguards told police Lena followed two boys around the pool, "touching them in the groin and buttocks."

“They were made aware of it and observed the behavior and she was removed pretty quickly after that,” said Cowden.           

Police found Lana standing outside the Eagle Harbor Aquatic Center and confronted her.

Lena: Why? Sir? 

Police: Face this way, put your hands together.   

Lena: Okay. (crying)     

Visibly upset, and in handcuffs, initially Lena was less than forthcoming.

Lena: Can I call my grandma? 

Police: How old are you? 

Lena: 28.          

Police: Okay, what's going on today?  

Lena: Nothing.   

But when pressed further, police said Lena offered an explanation. “At one point she stated she thought she was drowning so she grabbed a hold of one of the juveniles to pull herself up,” said Cowden. 

Police escorted Lena away from the public swimming pool. She was arrested and booked into jail. 

“The information she gave did not match any of the stories the victims gave or stories from the witnesses,” said Cowden.

One of the children also told police Lena asked them to be her boyfriend.

Jail records show Lena's bond was set at $100,000.

She is no longer in jail.
