Yukon Czech Hall Celebrates 125 Years On The Porch

The Yukon Czech Hall is celebrating 125 years with a traditional Battle Dance and celebration this weekend.

News 9's Jordan Ryan took the Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch to get a preview of how they are celebrating and sharing their culture.

On July 27, the Yukon Czech Hall is hosting a free dance and program to learn more about their history and Czech culture in Oklahoma.

Elaine Benda, president and dance committee member of the Yukon Czech Hall, said anyone is welcome to come out and learn.

"We will have a battle dance which doesn't happen very often. We have two bands on stage and the music will not stop from 7 to 10:30," Benda said.

She said the Hall is special because it is where people of all ages can come together.

"It's a place for a five-year-old and a 90-year-old can dance together, and a 16-year-old will come to join them," Benda said.
