The Democratic National Convention is two weeks away, and an early roll call vote is required.

Oklahoma’s 41 voting delegates are all voting for presumptive presidential nominee Kamala Harris.

As questions circulate on who Harris’ running mate will be, one pick on the shortlist is in Oklahoma City.

Kentucky Governor and vice president hopeful Andy Beshear is meeting with members of the Oklahoma Democratic Party at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.

Many of those members woke up this morning casting a virtual vote ahead of the DNC.

With the president announcing he is no longer running for reelection, the Democratic party had to change its plans and rules to get a new candidate on the ballot in Ohio.

“As a big battleground state, we find it important that Harris is on every ballot in the country,” said Matthew Lucas with the Oklahoma Democratic Party.

Lucas says that because of specific ballot access laws in that state, the party decided to hold this virtual vote. At the DNC, a ceremonial role-call vote will finalize Harris as the nominee.

“We are very energized by the massive support from the state party. We've seen donations skyrocket after the announcement,” said Lucas.

One of the 41 voting Oklahomans included Loretta Autry. “This was about showing party unity. Nobody felt any pressure to vote anyway, but our party is unified,” said Autry.

The Oklahoma Democratic party says Governor Beshear is on the shortlist as a vice president pick. Tonight, he’s in town for a fundraising event.

“We've sold over 300 tickets tonight, so there is a lot of support and a lot of excitement,” said Lucas.
