In just over a month, voters will head to the polls to choose Tulsa's next mayor. News On 6 hosted a live debate last night between the two candidates, State Representative Monroe Nichols and County Commissioner Karen Keith.
The hour-long debate aired live and is the only televised debate ahead of the November election. Voters will select Tulsa's next mayor on Nov. 5.
Monroe Nichols and Karen Keith discussed several topics, including homelessness, drugs in Tulsa, and the annual Equality Indicators report.
The candidates also addressed the Tulsa County Juvenile Justice Center, where former employees face court challenges involving abuse accusations.

“It has gotten so bad, the judge sent us a letter and said we don’t want to do this anymore. So being the responsible people that we are, we have taken over the juvenile facility and we have really turned the corner on this issue," Keith said.
"The reality is those young people for years suffered sexual abuse, physical abuse, and nobody did anything," Nichols said. "We're talking about somebody who is going to protect 180,000 square miles when they couldn’t protect 150,000 square feet, and I think that's a huge distinction between us."
