As part of our Best Summer Ever, we're dining our way down Route 66. Today, The Fat n' Sassy Mama is making a stop at an Oklahoma favorite.
They didn't invent ice cream but if you're from Oklahoma, you're pretty sure they had something to do with it. Today we stop in Yukon, Oklahoma; dining our way down Route 66 and had to stop at Braum's. They have been making ice cream for more than 40 years, serving generations some of the most delicious ice cream around.
Braum's got its start when the family began to sell butter to local businesses. That evolved into Peter Pan Ice Cream Stores in the 1930s and eventually turning into the Braum's we all love today.
Braum's is a family favorite here in Oklahoma. But there's a secret behind why their dairy is so special. It's the freshness of the product. It takes less than 36 hours for the product to go from cow to store.
