Midwest City police have identified 42-year-old Bryan Don Scott as the man who was shot and killed by a police officer.
A woman called 911 just before 7 a.m. Monday morning to report an explosion in her garage in the 600 block of Lions Park Place. She told police that Scott, a friend of her husband's, was acting crazy and had a gun.
When police arrived, Scott came out of the garage, shirtless. They said he had severe burns on the upper portion of his body. He was also carrying a machete and a rifle.
Officer Jeremy Zuniga confronted Scott and repeatedly ordered him to drop the weapons, but Scott refused to follow the commands. Police said Scott pointed the rifle at Zuniga, and that's when the officer opened fire.

Zuniga shot Scott three times. Scott died at the scene. After the shooting, police determined Scott's rifle was a pellet gun.
A camera mounted on the police patrol car recorded the shooting. Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes said Officer Zuniga had no choice but to defend himself.
"Based on what we know from our investigation and after reviewing the video, it was clear that Officer Zuniga had no choice but to use deadly force to protect himself. Scott was armed and presented an immediate danger to the officer," Clabes added.
Chief Clabes said they're not sure what motivated Scott, but they said the homeowners told Scott to leave Sunday night.
"Our investigation has revealed that Scott apparently set some clothes belonging to the homeowner on fire inside the garage and was inadvertently burned in the process. Shortly after that, he charged Officer Zuniga with the weapons and was shot," Chief Brandon Clabes said.
Police said Scott did not have a permanent address but previously lived in Edmond. He also had a lengthy criminal history.
Officer Zuniga, 32, joined the Midwest City Police Department as a full-time police officer in November 2011. He is currently on paid administrative leave.
