National Guard Chief To Tour Oklahoma Tornado Damage

The Chief of the National Guard will be in Oklahoma Tuesday to thank guardsmen for their hard work following the May 20 tornado.

The Chief of the National Guard will be in Oklahoma Tuesday to thank guardsmen for their hard work following the May 20 tornado. General Frank J. Grass will meet with Governor Mary Fallin and tour the Plaza Towers Elementary neighborhood.

Members of the Oklahoma National Guard responded after the devastating tornado, digging their way through the rubble to search for survivors.

They assisted other emergency responders in helping victims with their immediate needs following the EF-5 tornado.

A four-star general, Grass serves as the 27th chief of the National Guard Bureau and as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He is a military adviser to the President, Secretary of Defense and National Security Council. He commands more than 470,000 Army and Air National Guard personnel.
