Coffeyville Man Arrested In Shootout At Sonic Drive-In

A Coffeyville man is behind bars for attempted murder and endangering the public after opening fire at a Sonic Drive-In Sunday.

Coffeyville police have a man in custody after a shootout at a Sonic Drive-In. Robert Jay Bocook was arrested just after 5:30 p.m. Sunday at a Sonic in the 800 block of West 11th Street.

Chief Tony Celeste says Bocook, 27, was arrested after opening fire on two men: 30-year-old Joseph Cardillo and 24-year-old Damien Illaoda, both of Girard, Kansas. The victims had multiple gunshot wounds, according to a news release.

Both are listed in serious condition.

Bocook was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on two counts of attempted murder, second degree. Additional complaints are aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm and criminal damage to property.
