Chapman Foundations Pledge $10 Million To Tulsa's 'A Gathering Place' Park

Chapman Foundations Pledge $10 Million To Tulsa's 'A Gathering Place' Park

The H.A. and Mary K. Chapman Charitable Foundations announced a $10 million contribution to A Gathering Place for Tulsa, the huge new park that will be built on Riverside Drive.

The George Kaiser Family Foundation announced its plans for the new park last summer.

According to a news release issued Wednesday, the Adventure Playground at the park will be named in honor of the Chapman Foundations.

The George Kaiser Family Foundation says Adventure Playground will be a destination for children and parents across the region in which everything will be designed specifically to engage the imagination and the body.

The donation from the Chapman Foundations will be added to pledges of $16 million, $12.5 million and $10 million by Williams Companies, QuikTrip Corporation and ONEOK respectively.

The GKFF says other major features of the park will be named for those three Tulsa-based companies.

Construction on the park is set to begin this spring and it will take years to complete.

H. Allen Chapman was an independent oil and gas producer based in Tulsa. He established the H.A. and Mary K. Chapman Charitable Trust in 1976 which became fully funded when he died in 1979.
