News 9 is learning new details behind a Sunday morning police pursuit that lasted some 50 miles on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike.
Around 4 a.m. Sunday, a Newcastle Police Officer was conducting a routine stop near the Newcastle Casino.
Police say the driver, identified as Kholer Shane Sullivan, hit the gas with two passengers inside his car.
Police say both passengers were able to get out of the car and Sullivan proceeded south on the H.E. Bailey turnpike.
About 50 miles later, Chickasha Police whom took over the pursuit, deployed stop sticks on the turnpike.
In dash cam video, you can see Sullivan’s car appear to be smoking and eventually he stops and puts his hands in the air.
Law enforcement, which included OHP by the end of the chase, took the 22-year-old into custody.
Police say Sullivan asked for medical attention. He was taken to the hospital and is waiting to be formally charged.
