OKC Police Identify Man Shot, Killed In His Backyard

Oklahoma City police have identified a man who was shot and killed in his own backyard.

According to police, just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, an officer was flagged down regarding a shooting in the 6600 block of S. Kelley Avenue.

The victim, 36-year-old Richard Gene Nelson Jr., was in his backyard when he became involved in an altercation with another person. During the altercation, Nelson was shot multiple times. He was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said no arrests have been made at this time, and they do not have a suspect description. If you have any information, call the homicide tip-line at (405)-297-1200. 

This is Oklahoma City’s 68th homicide of 2016, according to police.
