ODOT: Construction, Road Closures To Impact Bedlam Game Day Traffic

Fans driving to the OU/OSU game Saturday will have to navigate through construction and detours.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has released a list of all of the construction and road closures that will be in place during the Bedlam matchup:

Norman 

Lindsey St. bridge, ramps at I-35 closed in Norman

The Lindsey St. bridge over I-35 and all I-35 on- and off-ramps at Lindsey St. in Norman are closed for interchange reconstruction. Drivers are detoured to SH-9 East. Lanes are shifted and the speed limit remains reduced, however, all four interstate lanes are open.

Wylie Rd., Briggs St. closed in Norman 

Drivers can expect the following impacts to city streets in Norman due to an ongoing city project on Lindsey St. For more information, contact the City of Norman at 405-366-5396.

  • Southbound Wylie Rd. is closed between Lindale Ave. and Lindsey St.

Stillwater 

SH-51 and US-177 intersection narrowed in Stillwater 

Eastbound and westbound SH-51 (Sixth St.) is narrowed to one lane in each direction and shifted to the eastbound lanes between the railroad tracks and Jardot Rd. for a bridge project. Additionally, northbound and southbound US-177 (Perkins Rd.) will narrow to one lane in each direction between Hall of Fame Ave. and 12th Ave. and shift to the northbound lanes through February 2017.

While motorists may continue to make left turns at the Sixth St. and Perkins Rd. intersection, right turns will be prohibited for southbound US-177 (Perkins Rd.) to SH-51 (Sixth St.) through February. Detour for southbound US-177 traffic needing access to SH-51 will be Hall of Fame Ave. to Main St. to SH-51.

SH-51 narrowed to one lane near Yale in Payne Co.

SH-51 is narrowed to one lane with temporary traffic signals two miles east of SH-18 near Yale over Salt Creek for a bridge rehabilitation project through spring 2017. Drivers can expect delays and should plan extra travel time in the area.

Oklahoma City Metro

I-240 lane, ramp closures at Shields Blvd., I-240 Service Rd. 

Drivers can expect the following lane and ramp closures for ramp reconstruction as part of the ongoing I-35/I-240 Crossroads interchange reconstruction:

  • I-240 is narrowed to two lanes in each direction between Santa Fe Ave. (mm 3A) and I-35 (mm 4)
  • The eastbound I-240 off-ramp to Shields Blvd. and the westbound I-240 on-ramp from Shields Blvd. are permanently closed. Drivers must use the on/off ramps at Santa Fe Ave.
  • The east and westbound I-240 Service Roads (S.E. 74th St.) are narrowed to one lane in each direction at Shields Blvd.
  • This phase of reconstruction of the I-35/I-240 Crossroads interchange continues through fall 2017. The speed limit is reduced and drivers should plan extra travel time.
