The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital in Bethany is expanding and will soon serve a third more patients. A new 100,000 square foot addition is opening next summer.

On Thanksgiving Day, the hospital is kicking off its 10th annual Holiday Helpers Gift Drive to gather more donations for the additional patients they'll be serving.

You can buy and items from a basic needs list, a departmental wish list or purchase Christmas presents for a specific patient.

"These patients live at the hospital, so they start their day just like we do," said Melissa Richey with the Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital. "They get their clothes picked out, they put bows in the girls’ hair, socks and shoes on their feet and so they need those items," she added.

The hospital’s biggest need is diapers. They go through more than 5,000 a week and 250,000 diapers in one year.

The donation drive runs from November 24 to January 1.

Items can be dropped off daily between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. at The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital’s main lobby on N.W. 39th Expressway just east of Rockwell.
