Oklahoma Man Wanted In 2 Counties Escapes Arrest, Yukon Police Searching

A man wanted in Oklahoma and Pottawatomie Counties escaped from Yukon Police custody on Sunday and now officers are trying to track him down.

According to police, officers conducted a traffic stop at which time the suspect, Sierra G. Rhodes, tried to give them false identification. YPD says once the officers confirmed Rhodes real identity they discovered that he had two active warrants and placed him under arrest.

The officers placed Rhodes into a patrol vehicle but during the roadside investigation, Rhodes managed to escape from the backseat and run away. 

YPD is unsure of how Rhodes was able to escape but say they have an idea.

“We believe that he managed to manipulate the handcuffs to the front,” said Matt Hofer, a Captain with the YPD. “If you are thin you can get them to the front and once you get them in the front you are able to do all sorts of things.”

YPD is confident that they will be able to capture Rhodes. Hofer said it may be tomorrow, next week or next year, but his time will come.

“It is one of those things that doesn’t go away,” said Hofer. “Just because he is hiding out in someone’s house sitting back, drinking a cold one on someone’s couch, at some point he will make contact with law enforcement and these charges will be waiting on him,” said Hofer.
