The Edmond Police Department confirms officers are investigating after a shooting victim was found near UCO Wednesday evening.

Edmond PD: Shooting Victim Found At Apartment Complex Near UCO

The Edmond Police Department said officers are investigating after a shooting victim was found in the courtyard of an apartment complex near UCO Wednesday evening.

According to police, officers were called to 710 Churchill Avenue around 6:20 p.m.

Officers said they believe the incident started as robbery at the apartment complex. The shooting victim was transported from the scene in an unknown condition.

A friend of the victim, who also lives at the apartment complex, said at first he didn’t think it was real. But, he soon found out it was.

“He is actually my friend, so I got a call from another friend of one of my neighbors saying hey, my friend got shot,” said Allen Opoku.

Opoku lives a few doors down from where this all took place. After talking with his friends Thursday morning, he learned that the burglar kicked in the door to the apartment and once inside, started asking for money and that is when shots were fired.

“I am just glad that he is alive,” said Opoku.

Now, Opoku said he is on high alert.

“Considering how this guy just kicked in the door, I am probably going to get new locks,” said Opoku.

Thursday evening, Edmond police said they arrested 19-year-old Isaiah Williams for the crime.
