Two people were detained after a police chase Wednesday afternoon in Oklahoma City.
The chase started about 12:30 p.m. when officers were trying to serve an arrest warrant for a homicide suspect.
Police said they were told the suspect they were looking for was in a silver Chevrolet Malibu near NE 23 and Interstate 35. When the vehicle did not pull over, a police pursuit was initiated.
The vehicle continued onto the Tinker Diagonal then went onto westbound Interstate 40. Speeds reached up to 100 mph during the chase.
The vehicle eventually crashed at an apartment complex near N Rockwell and Glade avenues in northwest Oklahoma City.
Police said the suspect got out of the vehicle with a gun in his hand and a confrontation at a breezeway.
One officer fired his firearm at the suspect after the suspect did not drop his weapon. No one was hit, police said.
The chase suspect was identified as a 24-year-old man but was not the homicide suspect they were looking for, police said.
While the chase suspect was not the homicide suspect, he was a convicted felon who was not supposed to have a gun, police said.
A passenger was also detained after the chase.
This is the third officer-involved shooting in Oklahoma City for 2019.
