Yukon on Wheels skating rink is currently on lockdown following reports of a standoff. There is said to be a heavy police presence in the area around the rink. Police say there is a man in front of the police station causing a disturbance.

Suspect In Custody Following Standoff In Front Of Yukon Police Department

Yukon on Wheels skating rink was on lockdown Saturday night following reports of a standoff.

It started as a disturbance with an armed man outside of the Yukon police department. Police say a man showed up there hoping a police officer would have to use deadly force.

Some local businesses like a roller-skating rink were locked down as a precaution.

“We had to take down all precautions for the area. Our tactical team was able to intervene and the subject surrendered without incident,” said Yukon Police Major John Brown.

The man will now go through mental health treatment. No injuries or damages were reported.
