City Of Durant Set To Open First Homeless Shelter

The city of Durant will be opening its first homeless shelter.

The city planning commission and several property owners initially rejected the plan for two years. Then last month, city civic leaders finally received their 'nonprofit shelter' permit.

The shelter called 'I'm Possible' will be located at 4310 W University Blvd. Nearly 31% of Oklahoma's homeless are unsheltered.
