A Shawnee man says his son was beaten by fellow inmates twice in the past two weeks in the Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center.
Miles Sala says his son Chad has been in jail for about a month, he says his son deserves whatever punishment he had coming.
But Miles says his son called him from the jail last Wednesday and told him other inmates had blackened both of his eyes, and left a gash in his head, that needed staples.
Sala said Chad told him he’d been attacked the week before as well.
“If my son is not telling me the truth I want to know,” Sala said. “But if he is I want him protected.”
Sala says he’s been frustrated by the lack of information he is getting from the jail.
Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center Trust Executive Director Breonna Thompson tells News 9 her people are investigating the alleged attacks.
Thompson says her office has submitted Assault and Battery charges against at least one of the other inmates responsible for Chad Sala’s beating.
However, she also says Sala has been a discipline problem since he was booked into the jail.
