A trooper is at the hospital and a suspect is in custody after an OHP-involved shooting in Woodward Sunday.
Investigators say Arturo Ramirez shot an OHP trooper during what would have been a simple seat belt violation traffic stop.
After allegedly pulling into a hotel and shooting at the trooper, Ramirez took off, but was eventually found and arrested.
While the trooper recovers from internal bleeding, Ramirez is headed back behind bars.
The suspect has been arrested several times before in Woodward, Dewey and Ellis counties. His past charges range from speeding to larceny, to more violent felonies like assault on an emergency technician and resisting an officer.
Troopers say Ramirez' hand was injured in the crossfire after the trooper, Austin Ellis, fired back.
Officials say he was taken to a hospital in Woodward, while Ellis was flown to OU Med in Oklahoma City.
Troopers say both Ellis and Ramirez are expected to recover from the injuries they sustained Sunday.
