A teen visiting the metro from Muskogee is now in jail and is accused of fatally shooting his 15-year-old friend on Sunday.

Bethany police arrested Rodrigues White, 16, of Muskogee, in connection with the shooting.

The 16-year-old told Bethany police his friend was shot in a drive-by but could not describe the car. That's also what he told the victim's father who made a frantic 911 call for help.

Caller: My son just got shot. My son just got shot.
911: Where at?
Caller: 2004, 2004 Wilburn.
911: 2004 Wilburn?
Caller: 2004 Wilburn, somebody drove by and shot him.

Bethany police were called to the home Sunday night. They found Floyd Davenport IV, 15, also from Muskogee, with a gunshot wound.

White called Davenport's father who lives near the home.

Caller: Baba stay woke, baba, baba stay woke.
Caller: Baba, he losing consciousness. Baba, you hear me, son? Baba, you strong. You got this. Baba, oh my god!

Davenport's father also ran to a neighbor's house looking for answers.

“He was frantic and asking if we had seen anything,” said Ashley Bowen, a neighbor. “Or heard anything or seen anybody and we had not.”

White later told investigators he and his friend were sitting on the sofa, playing with a gun.

White says he did not know the gun was loaded and accidentally shot the 15-year-old.

When police searched the home, they found a pistol on the sofa and a pistol and an AR-type rifle in a bedroom.

Neighbors are wondering how and why the teens had guns. A question Bethany police are also investigating.

“Teach your kids like gun safety, “ said Bowen. “Or keep them locked up, especially if there are not parents at the house. Like 15 or 16 years old is still not old enough to be handling in my opinion.”

White in the Oklahoma County jail on complaints of manslaughter and reckless conduct with a firearm.
