Less than a month after a 9-day statewide teachers walkout, the largest teachers union in the state is dealing with more controversy.
The Oklahoma Education Association’s (OEA) annual convention started Friday at the Embassy Suites in Norman.
News 9 obtained a copy of some sort of petition Friday, that had been posted in the form of a letter on Facebook by a Stillwater High School Special Education Teacher. It calls for the impeachment of OEA President Alicia Priest and Vice President Katherine Bishop.
The OEA said Priest would not be addressing the alleged petition. Nicoma Park teacher and OEA member Amber Spradlin said teachers need to stay united.
“People haven’t quit fighting yet. Those emotions are still there, and are still very raw, but it’s very important how we want to attack that,” she said.
News 9 reached out to that Stillwater teacher early Friday afternoon but she hasn’t responded.
Attached below is the letter calling for impeachment that appeared on Facebook.
