Medical professionals from around the state are in Oklahoma City to talk about how to tackle the Opioid epidemic. The Oklahoma State Medical Association is hosting this gathering.
Experts are discussing how the problem with painkillers got so bad, and how to constructively talk to those who are addicted.
“When we look at this we look at the strategies to deal with individuals who may be shy to come forward about their addictions and what resources may exist, let alone beginning to start a dialogue about how we continue to expand those resources for individuals,” said Dr. Kevin Taubman, President of the Oklahoma State Medical Association.
Organizers say they've had these conferences for years, but because of the severity of the Opioid Epidemic, it’s the biggest gathering yet.
