Work has started on a new entertainment district in Edmond.
The goal is to a create a district similar what you see in OKC with Bricktown, Midtown and the Plaza district.
The development called the District at Westbridge on the 400 block of Edmond Rd. could have as many as 15 restaurants and bars.
“It just gives them something different than what Edmond has,” says Developer Neal McGee.
One main focal point will be a courtyard area where folks can eat, enjoy a drink, and entertainment on a small stage that’s also being built.
Each of buildings will have a warehouse feel with garage doors opening to the courtyard.
Office space and smaller retail spaces are also in the plans.
“A lot of little businesses want their art, their jewelry, and maybe eclectic furniture, They don’t need a place to do it, they need a place to display it,” adds McGee.
Trees have just been cleared out and Magee thinks construction could begin in 90 days.
