AAA Oklahoma is donating $5,000 to buy and help train a therapy dog for a military veteran.
These therapy dogs mean the world to veterans who may be suffering from PTSD or were injured in combat.
Retired Air Force veteran Chad Molenhour and his therapy dog JJ go just about everywhere together, with JJ applying hundreds of hours of training to his everyday.
"He went through two years training of his own with another trainer. Now, it's my time to train, so he's training me. We work together as a team. I'm learning my commands and we're learning to get along with each other," Molenhour said.
JJ helps Molenhour increase his range of mobility. JJ opens doors, retrieves things, and is even learning how to open the refrigerator.
AAA of Oklahoma employees helped raise the money to make today's donation possible.
Later this morning, Molenhour and JJ will join AAA Oklahoma and Therapetics Service Dogs of Oklahoma while marching in the Midwest City Veterans Day parade.
