Car thieves are targeting car lots in southwest Oklahoma City. Police want to question two men they believe are behind the disappearance of a car from F5 Motors on southwest 29th street. The two wanted suspects were caught on camera.

They look like typical auto shoppers, but F5 Motors employees told police they had a bad feeling about the two men when they walked on the lot.

“The clerks there,” said Msgt. Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police Department. “Or employees there felt it was suspicious.”

The men said they were interested in a black 2011 four-door Chevy Impala and they would return later to buy the car. The suspected car thieves were actually scoping out the lot and had plans to return but not to purchase anything. The cameras on the business also caught the 90s model pick-up the two were last seen driving.

Police said the men came back two days later, early in the morning. The suspects disabled the GPS inside the car causing the alarm go off and the battery to run down. The thieves left and returned a couple hours later for the car.

“A rather unusual way of going about it,” said Knight. “Instead of driving it off, they towed the vehicle away from it.”

Surveillance video shows the car was towed north on S. Lee Avenue and disappears from sight. Later in the morning when employees arrived for work, they discovered the car was missing.

“They later realized the chain blocking the lot had been cut,” said Knight. “And was laying on the ground and that’s when they reviewed the video and determined the vehicle had been stolen.”

The owner of the car lot believes the car was stolen for parts. Police have not been able to locate the vehicle because the GPS was removed.
