The Heisman Memorial Trophy is the biggest individual award in college football that annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity.
Jackson beat out OU’s Baker Mayfield and Dede Westbrook along with Clemson’s Deshaun Watson and Michigan’s Jabrill Peppers for the award.
While leading Louisville to a 9-3 record, Jackson threw for 3,390 yards and 30 touchdowns while rushing for 1,538 yards and 21 more scores.
Despite not winning the award, OU’s Mayfield and Westbrook were the first pair of teammates to be named finalists since 2005 when USC’s Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush were both invited to NYC.
