The state Supreme Court has ruled that News 9 and the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters are right, and that the surveillance video of OU running back Joe Mixon punching co-ed Amelia Molitor is a public record and must be released to the media.
For more than two years, the video has been kept under wraps by the City of Norman and a Cleveland County judge, the state's high court said they were wrong to do it.
Back in 2014, locking the video away, might have seemed like the best thing for the then 18 year old Mixon and OU.
The video shows Mixon arguing with Molitor at a campus corner cafe, reporters who've seen it say she slaps him and then he slams her with a punch that bounced her head off a table and sent her crumbling to the floor.
I've never doubted the video would eventually be released... should have been shortly after the incident, withholding it reflected badly on everyone involved from the city, county and university.
If they try to drag it out any longer even after the Supreme Court has ruled it's only going to look worse.
And Joe Mixon, who is an amazing football talent, and NFL ready, will, I predict, see his draft value drop when this video hits the air and the internet.
Had they released it when it happened like they were suppose to, he would have had a couple of years to maybe rehabilitate his image.
