This comes in light of an investigative state audit into the department which cited poor accounting in its findings.
The agenda item reads as follows:
"Discussion and possible action regarding the State Auditor and Inspector s Investigative Findings contained in the October 18th, 2016, Investigative Audit Report of the Oklahoma County Sheriff s Office, including request for Board of County Commissioners to take one or more of the following actions based upon the Auditor s findings: conduct further investigation or request such investigation be conducted by outside agencies, sanction Sheriff John Whetsel, temporarily suspend Sheriff John Whetsel from office, or initiate proceedings to remove Sheriff John Whetsel from office. Requested by Ray Vaughn, Chairman."
Whetsel said he will work to improve every area of operation. He is up for re-election next week.
