Oklahoma State defensive tackle Vincent Taylor and punter Zach Sinor were named Big 12 Defensive Player and Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively.
Taylor was unstoppable in the Cowboys’ 37-20 Homecoming win against No. 10 West Virginia. He had six tackles, 2.5 sacks and three tackles for loss to go with a forced fumble and a pass breakup. Mountaineer quarterback Skyler Howard was under pressure all game thanks in large part to Taylor’s efforts.
Sinor averaged 44.8 yards per punt against the Mountaineers and three of his four punts were downed inside the 20-yard line. His best punt of the game came in the fourth quarter when OSU had to punt from their own 26-yard line. Sinor’s missile of a punt was downed at the West Virginia 15, a 59-yarder.
It’s the second week in a row the Cowboys have had two representatives out of the four Player of the Week categories. Last week kicker Ben Grogan and Justice Hill were recognized.
Oklahoma State goes to Kansas State this Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff.
