An Arlington, Texas, man has died after he was hit by a pickup truck while standing by a stranded vehicle on Interstate 35 near Ardmore, Oklahoma.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the crash happened at about 8 p.m. Monday in the southbound lanes of I-35 at mile marker 27, about two miles south of Ardmore.
A 1999 Ford Pickup truck was parked on the shoulder of I-35 due to a flat tire. Its passenger, 26-year-old Bryan Amador was standing by the driver’s side of the truck when a 2015 Ford Pickup driven by 50-year-old Darrin L. Miller of Burneyville, ran off the roadway to the right. Miller’s truck then hit Amador.
Amador was pronounced dead at the scene. The original driver of the 1999 pickup was not injured.
Miller was not injured.
Troopers listed the cause of the collision as “inattention” in the OHP collision report. Miller’s condition at the time was listed as “apparently normal.”
