Oklahoma State’s Jawun Evans, the reigning Big 12 Freshman of the Year, was one of five players named to the Preseason All-Big 12 basketball team, the league announced Thursday.

Last season, Evans led all Big 12 freshmen in scoring (12.9 PPG), assists (4.9 apg), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.9 A/TO), field goal percentage (47.1), 3-point field goal percentage (47.5) and free throw percentage (83.3). He was a three-time recipient of the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week award, and his 4.4 assists per game were the most ever by an OSU freshman.
Evans hit his stride in league play. He poured in a Bedlam-record 42-points against Oklahoma and days later led the Cowboys to an upset of No. 3 Kansas with 22 points, six rebounds and eight assists.
A shoulder injury sidelined Evans for the final 10 games of 2015-16, but in the six games prior to his injury he averaged 19.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game - all team highs.
Evans and the Cowboys will host an open practice on Saturday from 8:30 until approximately 11 in Gallagher-Iba Arena. OSU opens the season at home on Nov. 11 against Campbell.
Season tickets start at just $199 and are available by calling the OSU Ticket Office at 877-ALL-4-OSU or at okstate.com/tickets.
