Canadian County Undersheriff Chris West said Victor Orozco and Vickie Barela, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, were stopped Monday by Canadian County deputies on Interstate 40.

Come to find out, Orozco had a federal warrant for his arrest and fessed up to carrying another heavy load.

“He said, ‘Yeah there’s a whole bunch of marijuana in the vehicle,’” West said.

Orozco told deputies it was in the trunk, all 92 pounds of it.

West said rentals are a common method for moving marijuana and cartels also use car haulers.

“They pay these car haulers to haul it so they don’t get busted and so the car haulers usually don’t know what’s going on,” he said.

That's what he said appeared to be the case on September 27 when a deputy on I-40 pulled over a truck carrying three vehicles.

West said Pickles, the drug dog, found 130 pounds of weed under one of the vehicles' floorboards.

Then, a Canadian County deputy and the DEA task force went along for the rest of that truck's vehicle deliveries. They made one stop in Muskogee and then on to Kansas City, Kansas, where they followed the person who picked it up.

West said authorities found 70 more pounds of weed in that person’s home and six people were arrested.
