Bob Stoops Previews TCU, Says Off Week Helped Team Rest, Recover

Bob Stoops talked TCU this week at his Monday news conference, and noted that the week off has helped his team rest up for its Big 12 opener.

“I felt like our guys did a good job last week working Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday trying to clean up some of our mistakes, our execution, and try to be a little more solid that way but also getting some extra work on,” Stoops told reporters in Norman.

Oklahoma and TCU are still among the favorites to win the Big 12 conference despite their respective non-conference disappointments. Stoops praised the Horned Frogs for their offensive versatility.

“TCU’s a team that’s playing very well. I think their quarterback, Kenny Hill, is really an excellent football player and doing a great job for them throwing the football as well as the ability to create some things for them pulling the ball down and running. They’ve had decent balance. They’ve thrown it a little more than running it but they’ve been able to be effective both ways.”

Later Monday afternoon, Stoops announced senior offensive lineman Erick Wren had been placed on scholarship. Wren came to OU from Arizona Western Community College.
