Energy FC Falls 2-1 To Vancouver Whitecaps 2

A pair of Marco Bustos goals gave Vancouver Whitecaps 2 a 2-1 victory against Energy FC on Wednesday night at McLeod Athletic Park. The loss means the Energy will be on the road for the first round of the USL playoffs which begin next weekend.

Bustos knocked in a penalty kick after a handball call to give Vancouver a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute. He netted the second of his brace in the 75th minute, his seventh goal this season in just 19 appearances.

Michael Thomas scored his fourth goal of the season in the 82nd minute. OKC was unable to equalize in the later stages of the match, extending the club’s winless streak to five games.

Energy FC caps the regular season by hosting St. Louis FC on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Taft Stadium. Opening kick is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT.
