High temperatures and humidity Monday took a toll on visitors to the Oklahoma State Fair.
As of 8 p.m. Monday, EMSA said it had treated nearly 80 people for heat exhaustion.
Of nine people EMSA took to area hospitals, two were admitted in “critical condition.”
Amanda Burton’s nephew Nathan Becker was one of the 80 treated.
“He scared me because his eyes rolled back in his head, and we didn’t know what was going on. So but he hit the ground pretty good, and my husband came over and picked him up and put him in the officers’ little cart,” she said.
Fair spokesman Scott Munz said there are plenty of air conditioned buildings on the 435 acre state fair property, people can seek refuge in those places as well.
“If they truly need medical attention, they should go to one of our information booths, flag down one of the people driving the golf carts,” he said.
