An Oklahoma City woman claiming to have psychic powers was hauled out of her home in handcuffs by Oklahoma City Police Officers Friday afternoon.

Police say 52-year-old Sonia Marks has cheated clients out of large sums of money in several different ways.

Acting on a tip from a probation officer, Police Spokesman Gary Knight says undercover vice cops had posed as clients at Marks’ home/office at 4445 SW 33rd Street several times during the past several weeks.

“One of the ways she would do it is when they showed up, she would look at their palm and tell them if they leave a large sum of money here, and come back in a week, that sum of money will have doubled. Of course, people would come back and there was no money. Many people would fall for it again and again,” said Knight.

Court documents show Marks was convicted in an Ohio courtroom in January 2015, of these same kinds of criminal tactics. That court ordered her to pay $187,000 in restitution.

Helen Highfill is one of Marks’ neighbors.

“It makes you wonder what she got out of Oklahoma, because we have a lot of scam artist who are going after the elderly and people who aren’t very well-educated,” said Highfill.

Knight added, “It isn’t just ten or twenty dollars here. Oftentimes it’s thousands of dollars she’s scamming them out of. And she’s very aggressive in her techniques.”
