Injuries Reported In 4-Car Pileup On WB I-40 Near Meridian

First responders were called out to a four-car pileup crash with injuries reported on the westbound side of Interstate 40 on the northwest side of the metro.

Emergency crews were called out to the crash on WB I-40 near the N. Meridian Ave. exit, just before 1 p.m. Authorities shut down two lanes of the interstate while crews worked quickly to remove the wrecked vehicles. All lanes of the interstate have since been re-opened.

Injuries were reported with the crash, but none were especially serious. Three EMSA units also responded to the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. The wreck forced traffic to become backed up more than two miles.
