Frederic Dale Spencer appeared before a Grady County court Tuesday in chains to face the long list of accusations against him.
Among those accusations were vandalism, assault and recklessly brandishing a firearm.
A shock coming from a man who rarely loses his temper, Alex police Chief Tim Keef said.
"There has been a time or two, he has come into City Hall and I’ve had complaints with him losing it over his water bill or his trash bill,” he said.
According to arrest reports, the recent accusations stem from a road rage incident on Friday on Highway 19 in Alex.
The incident was not too far from where Spencer owns a gun store.
Arrest documents state a car full of juveniles overtook Spencer on Highway 19 and pulled into Chisholm Corner gas station.
Police said an angry Spencer pulled in behind them armed with an AR-15 screaming at the teens.
Witnesses who called 911 said a clerk tried to step in before Spencer assaulted her.
Keef said those involved are still afraid, especially since Spencer is a trained instructor and should know when and when not to pull a weapon.
"She’s scared if he gets out, he’s gonna come back and do something with her," Keef said.
As of Tuesday, Spencer's business in downtown Alex was chained shut.
