A jealous boyfriend’s rage has Oklahoma City Police on his trail. He’s accused of beating and strangling his girlfriend, among other things.

According to police, 24-year-old Christopher Oaks invited his girlfriend to his apartment off of 122nd Street and MacArthur Wednesday afternoon. Police say when he found a contact to one of his friends in his girlfriend’s cellphone, he started his assault.

Police say Oaks punched the woman at least twice, strangled her, and then held her underwater in his bathtub.

“During the course of the assault he actually pulled a gun on her and threatened her with it. Fortunately, in this case, the victim was able to get out of the apartment she was in and find help,” said Police Spokesperson Megan Morgan. “First car she saw, she stopped.”

Chris Oaks has been in trouble before. According to the Department of Corrections, he received suspended sentences five months ago, for drug charges.
