Shots were fired into the back of a grandmother's car with her two small grandchildren in the back seat. The Village police believe it was case of road rage and now they're asking for the public's help in finding the shooters.
The incident happened in the Village Thursday, June 30, after the two suspects followed the woman into a neighborhood. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
The woman said she was driving in the area of Penn and Hefner when she noticed a silver Dodge in her rear view mirror. As she turned into a neighborhood, the car ran a stop sign and started tailgating her.
“They came upon her a couple times and then said she saw the passenger lean out and she said ‘I knew it looked like a gun’ and heard a shot and the back window shattered,” explained The Village Police Chief Paul Kinman.
The first officer on the scene said he "observed glass shards from the back window in both juvenile's hair”.
The shooting happened near the intersection of Andover and Greystone where police also found a 9mm shell casing in the intersection.
“She was definitely shaken up over it so we need to locate these two guys,” said Chief Kinman.
There were no other cars on the street and nearby neighbors didn't see anything. So, police are asking for the public's help. They believe the two suspects, described as two black males in their 20's were driving a Silver Dodge Magnum.
If you see or know anything that could help police call the Village Police Department at 405-751-9564.
