The Regional Food Bank is looking for more than 160 volunteers to help fight childhood hunger in Oklahoma.
Volunteers are needed to prepare meals for the Regional Food Bank’s Summer Feeding program, which helps children in Oklahoma who have inconsistent access to food.
Summer Feeding provides complimentary meals to children 18 and younger in low income areas. This year, the Regional Food Bank will distribute food to 118 sites across central and western Oklahoma.
Volunteers are needed weekdays through July 28. Volunteer shifts are from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Volunteers must be at least 12 years old and both individuals and groups are welcome. At least 25 volunteers are needed per shift.
“Without volunteers, we will not be able to prepare enough meals for our Summer Feeding program,” said Rodney Bivens, Executive Director of the Regional Food Bank. “Summer Feeding volunteers are critical to making sure children will receive adequate nutrition during the summer months when school meals are not available.”
If you would like to volunteer visit regionalfoodbank.org/volunteer or call 405-600-3160.
