Oklahoma consistently ranks high for best place to start a business and for affordable housing but a national study released ranks the best state to raise a child and Oklahoma needs a lot of help.
The Kids Count Study by The Annie E. Casey Foundation looks at four factors: economic and health, education and quality of community.
When all those are factored in Oklahoma ranked 37 out of 50. According to the study Oklahoma struggles most in education. It received a ranking of 42. When the study compared 8th grade math proficiency, nationwide it is 88 % but in Oklahoma it is 77%.
So where's the best state to raise a child? The number one ranking was given to Minnesota. The bottom of the list: Mississippi.
