A heartless act of vandalism at Oklahoma City’s only cricket field has local players fuming.
Members of the Oklahoma City Strikers Cricket Club said it happened sometime over the weekend at Douglass East Park which is where the team plays its home games.
The vandals poured concrete onto the “pitching area” of the field.
Karthik Viswanathan was one of several team members who used sledgehammers and other tools to break up the concrete and clean up the mess Monday evening.
“It’s heartbreaking for all of us, because we love the sport. We love to play cricket, and this something we don’t want to deal with,” he said.
He said it will cost probably more than $13,000 to fix the field.
“It’s appalling. You don’t do this to anybody,” he said.
Oklahoma City police are investigating.
