The Mid-Del Schools superintendent canceled classes last Tuesday because of the tornado threat. I had a long talk with him and support his decision to leave students at home that day.
Here's what you had to say about it:
Vicki first, ”Absolutely agree! I want my child with me!"
Christina says, "I agree with Kelly. Wasted day. We just showed up and then parents checked out all day."
But Aaron writes, "You are putting more kids in danger leaving them at home! What if they live in an apartment or mobile home? Schools are a safer place to be! SHAME ON THE SCHOOL FOR CANCELING."
Denise argues, "Parents are responsible for their children and should take actions accordingly. Thanks to incredible weather science, we have ample warning"
D'Ann in Cement says, "We've seen the devastation before. I wouldn't send my children on high risk days."
Joe from Choctaw, "I understand why they did it, but I was surpassed Moore wasn't the first one to close down. My kids are in Choctaw and we didn't send them to school that day."
From Wendi, "I understand the heart behind it... But to me it was not necessary… The storms weren't even expected until later in the day…"
Finally, Maleah writes from Midwest City, "It's a great thing they did and more districts should do the same!"
I'm Kelly Ogle and that's YOUR 2 Cents.
