"The Amazing Race" Contestant Jet McCoy To Run For Oklahoma Senate

Rancher Jet McCoy is best known for his appearance on season 16 of the hit CBS program The Amazing Race, but now he's entering an entirely different race.

McCoy, 35, announced his intention to run for the District 13 seat in the Oklahoma Senate. District 13 covers portions of Seminole, Pottawatomie, Hughes and Garvin counties.

The republican is an advocate for low taxes, traditional marriage and the 2nd Amendment. He has been married to his wife, Ashlee, for 10 years and has one daughter.

"Every decision I make is done prayerfully and thoughtfully," Jet said. "Quite frankly, that's how our legislature should act as well. It should be about what makes common sense and that real leadership means sacrificially serving the people of our state and districts, respectively."

The election will be held in June.
