Evans Frimpong scored Energy FC’s first goal in 2016 preseason play, leading OKC to a 1-0 win over Danish squad HB Køge in a 70-minute exhibition at IMG Academy Wednesday.
In the 58th minute of play, OKC defender Cyprian Hedrick grabbed a loose ball in the HB Køge box and eluded defenders before sending a cross to the middle of the box, where Frimpong booted home the eventual game winning goal.
OKC head coach Jimmy Nielsen’s staring lineup consisted of several new faces, including new goal keeper Jacob Lissek, defender Kyle Hyland and forwards Tim Janssen and Frimpong.
Trial keeper C.J. Cochran played the second 35-minute half in goal for OKC.
Energy FC’s training camp continues at IMG Academy until Sunday, Feb. 21, when the club faces Orlando City B in its final match in Florida. The noon CT match will not be televised or available for streaming on the web.
