According to Norman police, at about 7:40 a.m., crews responded to the accident at the school, located near W. Brooks Street and McGee Drive. The victim, a 12-year-old boy, suffered minor injuries and has been transported to the hospital by his parents.

Norman police said the driver involved received a citation for failure to stop at a red traffic signal. The boy, who was walking northbound in the crosswalk on Lindsey, had the right of way.

The child attends Alcott Middle School, which is close to Whittier Middle School.
