Rick Wells

Rick Wells is a reporter for News 9. His gift for crafting news stories results in unique, compelling reporting. His sense of humor and commitment to serving the community make him one of the state’s best known news personalities.

Wells was born in Ohio but grew up in Texas. He earned a business degree from Hampton University and a journalism degree from the University of Maryland. He spent 12 years on active duty in the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of major. He spent seven of those years overseas in Thailand, Germany and Korea.

He and his wife Tina have one son, Matthew. He also has three grown children from a previous marriage.
