Tonight’s a huge night for teams with ties to Oklahoma, and the Thunder (23-10) will be in the thick of the action as they travel to Charlotte to take on the Hornets (17-15) at 6 p.m. Here are a few things to know about the upcoming Western Conference/Eastern Conference clash.
Will the Thunder keep winning?
OKC has been rolling as of late and are 12-2 in their last 14 games with the only losses coming against the Cavaliers and the Bulls. Most of the wins have come against teams with less than stellar records, but nonetheless, it’s great for the Thunder to stockpile wins when they can. OKC’s schedule will start to vamp up down the final stretch, as they play the Warriors/Spurs/Cavs seven times in a 31-game span.
Jeremy Lamb reunion
Former Thunder guard Jeremy Lamb will be facing off against the Thunder for the first time since the Thunder traded him in the offseason. Lamb never really found a role in Oklahoma City after he was acquired in the deal that sent James Harden to Houston in exchange for Lamb, Kevin Martin and a future draft pick.
Lamb has found more of a niche in Charlotte, and is averaging 11.1 points and 4.5 rebounds in 21.9 minutes per game. He’s performed so well that the Hornets signed Lamb to a three-year contract extension in November.
Star studded crowd
Don’t be surprised to see plenty of familiar faces in the Charlotte crowd on Saturday night. Hornets owner and NBA legend Michael Jordan will be in attendance while there’s always a chance that Carolina Panthers players such as Cam Newton will be at the game to see the Thunder in action.
